The Hate U Give
by Angie Thomas
It is a very well written book with an important message. The climax is one of the best in modern fiction. One of the best cast of characters with different strengths and flaws.

Cloud Cuckoo Land
by Anthony Doerr
Cloud Cuckoo Land has a silly title, which is why I chose to read it, but it is in fact really good. It's a book that includes perspectives from multiple (5) different characters, but it doesn't feel heavy or forced. I felt like I could have read a book on each of the individual characters alone and been completely immersed in each, and the combination of the different perspectives added a new dimension to the story. Overall, a really engaging read. I almost cried twice :') Also: If everyone read this book, maybe we could save our world from a fiery destruction...

Not a huge fan of short stories but I liked how family traits continue through the generation lines even when you aren't there to influence them.
